My LCHF week in review: September 7 – 13

By Jim September 15, 2015

Starting weight = 213.2 lbs. Ending weight = 211.8 lbs. For the third straight week, I lost weight. It was 1.4 pounds this week. For the three week-span, I've lost a total of 4.4 pounds. Once again, I skipped breakfast on two days -- Thursday and Saturday. On those days, my total calories were 200 - 300 lower than the 1,649 average shown in the table above. Maybe I'll try a full-day fast at some point. Then again, I like to eat, and my goal is to reach and maintain a healthy weight without … [Read more...]

My LCHF week in review: August 31 – September 6

By Jim September 8, 2015

Starting weight = 214 lbs. Ending weight = 213.2 lbs. Yipee! For the second week in a row, I lost weight. True, it was slightly less than a pound, but it's still a trend -- a positive one. I had a couple of higher carb days, but I also skipped breakfast a couple days (the so-called 16/8 fast). So it pretty much evened out. We were at the lake for the Labor Day weekend. Home now, and plan to stay here a while. Settle down a bit. With the passing of Labor Day, summer has unofficially ended in … [Read more...]

My LCHF week in review: August 24 – 30

By Jim September 1, 2015

Starting weight = 216.2 lbs. Ending weight = 214 lbs. I lost 2.2 pounds last week, and my weight is back to where it was three weeks ago. I tried intermittent fasting last week, as suggested by reader BobM. I skipped breakfast on two days during the week (Thursday and Saturday). It wasn't much of a problem to do that. On my LCHF diet, I don't get "hangry" anymore. I admit I was ready to eat lunch both of those days, but not desperate. My average total calories and net carbs for the two … [Read more...]

My LCHF week in review: August 17 – 23

By Jim August 26, 2015

Starting weight = 214 lbs. (August 10) Ending weight = 216.2 lbs. (August 24) I was at the lake for 10 days. Usually I gain weight at the lake, even when following my low-carb, high-fat diet. I don't know why that is. True to form, I gained 2.2 pounds since my last weigh-in on August 10. Aside from the Lake Factor, I think it's just that I have a serious carb intolerance. I need to get my daily total carbs under 50 grams a day in order to lose weight. It could also be that my body has … [Read more...]

My LCHF week in review: August 10 – 16

By Jim August 18, 2015

I'm away from home this week, and can't weigh-in on my trusty bathroom scale. Carbs were up a little in the past week, and fat percentage down, but overall I'm sticking with the program. … [Read more...]

My LCHF week in review: August 3 – 9

By Jim August 10, 2015

Starting weight = 215.6 lbs. Ending weight = 214 lbs. It was a positive week. It always is when I lose a pound or two. But in addition, the pain I've experienced in my left shoulder and arm has eased, and I've been able to focus again on my weight loss goals. I ate well. By that, I mostly mean I kept to my low-carb high-fat principles all through the week. But I also mean that I enjoyed what I ate. To me, the enjoyment is a major factor in all of this. If I didn't like what I was eating, I'd … [Read more...]

My LCHF week in review: July 27 – August 2

By Jim August 6, 2015

Starting weight = 215.2 lbs. Ending weight = 215.6 lbs. I held my own last week, with my attention diverted to pain in my left shoulder and arm, possibly caused by a herniated spinal disc. Or not. I have a history of such problems, but not in recent years. I took a course of oral steroids throughout the week, which are known to raise one's blood sugar. I can't say if they affected me that way. The pain subsided. I'm doing a round of physical therapy.  Through it all, I'm continuing to eat … [Read more...]

My LCHF week in review: July 20 – July 26

By Jim July 27, 2015

Starting weight = 217.4 lbs Ending weight = 215.2 lbs It was a solid week on the LCHF diet front for me, resulting in a 2.2 pound weight loss. That's over one-percent of my current body weight. To me, it's a perfect amount to lose in a week. If I can keep it up, I'll reach my target weight of 199 pounds by the end of September. I've lost five pounds in the past three weeks, just a touch under the two-pound a week average. One complication has entered my life. I've been having mysterious pain … [Read more...]

My LCHF week in review: July 13 – July 19

By Jim July 20, 2015

Starting weight = 217.8 lbs Ending weight = 217.4 lbs It was an odd week. The averages are misleading. I started the week in the middle of a "fat fast," trying to get 85% of my calories from fat while keeping my calories low (around 1,400 per day in my modified version of a fat fast). I followed this regime for three consecutive days (through Tuesday of this week), and dropped over two pounds. The hardest part of the fat fast was hitting the 85% target for fat. In fact, I only managed it one … [Read more...]

My LCHF week in review: July 6 – July 12

By Jim July 13, 2015

The drop wasn't pronounced or dramatic, but I did lose a couple pounds over the course of "Bust the Stall" Week. I finally got off the 219 pound plateau last Wednesday, and then stayed below it for the rest of the week. I lost weight on a majority of days. The numbers in the table aren't telling me a lot beyond that, but it does seem that I need to keep my daily total carbs and net carbs under 55 grams and 35 grams respectively. I gained weighed after every day where my carbs were higher. My … [Read more...]
