The drop wasn’t pronounced or dramatic, but I did lose a couple pounds over the course of “Bust the Stall” Week. I finally got off the 219 pound plateau last Wednesday, and then stayed below it for the rest of the week. I lost weight on a majority of days.
The numbers in the table aren’t telling me a lot beyond that, but it does seem that I need to keep my daily total carbs and net carbs under 55 grams and 35 grams respectively. I gained weighed after every day where my carbs were higher. My biggest gain of the week occurred on Thursday, the day after I consumed 64 total and 39 net carbs.
You’ll notice that yesterday (Sunday) was very high fat and very low carb. I was trying a modified “Fat Fast.” Dr. Atkins presented the Fat Fast as a way of overcoming metabolic resistance and stubborn stalls. It was the one time he wanted dieters to count calories, limiting themselves to only 1,000 per day, with 75% – 90% from fat.
In my Fat Fast, I decided not to go so low on calories, but to try hard to get 85% – 90% from fat. The hardest part isn’t restricting calories. It’s getting the percentage from fat up to that level.
Fat Fasts are a short-term strategy. I’ll stick with my version for a couple more days.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
