Here are the key numbers for another week of observing a low-carb high-fat diet. All are daily averages.
- Calories = 1,681
- % Cals from Fat =70%
- Carbs = 40 grams
- Fiber = 13 grams
I lost weight for the week, dropping from 223.2 to 221.4 pounds, a loss of just under two pounds.
I wouldn’t have been surprised if my weight had stayed the same or gone up. I was under stress, it being the end of the winter semester and the pile of student papers to grade reaching toward the sky (metaphorically speaking — I collect everything in digital form these days).
And then there is the stress provoked by those students who suddenly realize it’s the end of the semester and perhaps they ought to have been paying more attention for the last 14 weeks. Or any attention. I’m a sensitive soul, and it’s difficult to ignore their pleas for a special 500 point extra-credit assignment that if brilliantly executed might bring their semester average up to something resembling a passing grade.
Difficult but not impossible.
Stress can interfere with weight loss, but stress ultimately is about our internalization of the circumstances we find ourselves in. Maybe after 30 years I’m doing a better job of internalizing.
Now back to the metaphorical tower of papers!
