It was touch and go, but I managed my usual three podcasts this week for The Low Carb Nugget. The problem was a bad cold that affected my voice — and not for the better.
Luckily, it’s a recorded show, so I could cut out fits of coughing.
#13 Historical interlude: K-rations, sugar, and cigarettes
On the 73rd anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy, Jim takes a look at the field rations American soldiers carried with them into combat. The ingredients were as much about boosting morale as providing nutrition.
#14 A waist that’s half your height
The traditional way of determining whether a person is obese or over-weight or neither has been the body mass index, also called BMI. A new study says there is a better way.
#15 Keto and the evangelical mind-set
Is a low-carb, high-fat (ketogenic) diet good for what ails you? Is it a medical cure-all? I have to say no. For instance, it hasn’t cured or prevented the summer cold I’ve had all week. Just to warn you, my voice may go out at any moment.
